This photo of “Peeta” excites me.

Watched this movie yesterday. Wanted to see how Josh Hutcherson acted. Wasn’t bad. Still waiting for the blonde locks, though. :)
When will I see the “ashy, blonde hair that falls in waves over [your] forehead”? I need a picture. Not a crappy one of you with a helmet on or from someone who snuck on to the set.
Love, Jenny
This was my favorite quote that they used to describe Peeta in The Girl Who Was on Fire (The Politics of Mockingjay by Sarah Darer Littman).
With the highly anticipated Hunger Games movie coming out next year, there has been a lot of news about who is playing who. Overall, I am not disappointed. I think that the casting director has done a pretty good job. There are some things bothering me. Now, this does not mean I dislike anyone who has been cast, but I guess I just never pictured some of the characters that way. So, lets start with the most important characters: Katniss and Peeta. As well as the other boy in Katniss’ life: Gale.

I love Jennifer Lawrence. I think it’s great that my favorite character will be played by an Academy Award nominee. She beautiful, both with make-up and naturally. So aside from all that awesome stuff, I’ve got a few concerns. For one, she can look much older than what Katniss is supposed to. Lawrence is already 20 y/o. What’s going to happen by the time they start filiming Mockingjay? Another thing, will she look too much older than Josh Hutcherson? Another concern I have is if Lawrence will keep true to Katniss’ character. I know part of that involves the script, but I got this vibe from Katniss throughout the books that I am scared will not show in the movies. Oh, and I think they need to make her hair longer. The fire balls in the arena burn about six inches of hair off her braid, so I hope they add more hair. I think Jennifer Lawrence will do a fantastic job, and after seeing those first images of her in tribute gear, I felt much better.

Aright, so Peeta is the character that is most frustrating. I am not so much worried about Josh Hutcherson’s acting ability as I am about the “golden hair”. I have seen pictures of everyone in costume, yet this guy has gone un-photographed. Seriously? The only pictures circling are crappy, to say the least. His hair looks brown, red, NOT blonde. I am hoping it’s the lighting, because if not, I will be very upset. Aside from that, I don’t really know what to expect. I realized the other day he plays the obnoxious little brother in RV. Yeah…

I like Liam Hemsworth. I think he can portray Gale well. So far, from the picture I saw from the set, he’s looking pretty darn good. It’s just how I pictured Gale to be, except I thought the hair would be a little longer. I do think that he and Jennifer Lawrence resemble each other. We all know how important that is in the story-line. They have to be believable cousins. The only movie I’ve seen Liam act in was The Last Song. I didn’t think he did a bad job. I’m really looking forward to seeing him down the line in Mockingjay.

Overall, I’m pleased with the casting of these characters. I had others in mind (Lily Collins for Katniss and Alex Pettyfer for Peeta), but I think that these three will do Collins’ characters justice.
